PROJEKTOR Updates SEASON’S GREETINGS

SEASON’S GREETINGS

It has been a little over two months since Projektor was launched into cyberspace.

In that time, I have uploaded essays and reviews of films by an array of directors, including Pedro Almodovar, Larry Charles, Sofia Coppola, Raymond De Felitta, David O. Russell, Henry Selick, Giuseppe Tornatore, Paul Verhoeven, Lars Von Trier, Billy Wilder and Len Wiseman.

I have also had the great fortune of receiving positive and reassuring feedback from numerous individuals who have found something of value in these writings. Warm and sincere thanks to all of you.

Your support for Projektor and all that it represents – the appreciation and interpretation of world cinema – is a gift and a powerful motivation to continue. Contrary to entrenched stereotypes, no one writes alone and it is the insights and comments of others that provides renewed confidence and inspiration.

On the topic of writing, Christmas would not be complete without a movie about one of its seminal figures: Santa Claus. In that light, Christmas Day will mark the publication of a lengthy essay that I have devoted to writer/director Jalmari Helander’s remarkable Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010).

Wishing you all a memorable and merry Christmas.

– Dr. Varga Hosseini
